Our Impact

Some highlights from our 2006-07 member and parent surveys:

  • 92% of all members surveyed reported feeling safe at the Club, and are far more apt to feel safe at the Club than in their school or neighborhood, or on the MBTA.
  • 92% of respondents reported that they believe Club staff care about them.
  • 91% of members reported that getting good grades is important to them.
  • 85% of members report that they learned to be part of a team at the Club.
  • 95% of parents agree that their child is more confident because of the Club.

Research shows that the biggest single predictor of a child's future success is the presence in their life of at least one non-parent adult. Youth who have positive adult relationships are:

  • More motivated to learn and do better in school.
  • Have a better sense of themselves and their future.
  • Accept and take responsibility for themselves and others.
  • More resilient and less likely to engage in risky behavior.

57% of Boys & Girls Club alumni say that participating in a Club "saved my life."
