Dear Friends,
In the midst of this moving cultural moment, I am continually humbled by the ways our supporters are sustaining our mission and how our staff serve the youth of Boston and Chelsea. This has not been an easy time for anyone, including our staff and especially our members.
I am proud to report that BGCB is more inspired by its mission today than ever before. In March, seemingly overnight, our staff leapt into action to provide virtual programming through daily Zoom calls and video content that has resulted in more than 35,000 views. Additionally, as an organization that thrives on mentorship and providing role models for youth, we have maintained contact with approximately 1,200 members each week through diligent outreach. Our staff has been able to leverage Club facilities to further meet the needs of our community by distributing thousands of much-needed supplies, including hygiene products, meals, toys, art kits, cleaning supplies, Chromebooks, grocery gift cards, and more.
This summer, BGCB will offer a hybrid approach to programming that features both virtual and in-person activities. As an organization, we remain committed to meeting the needs of our members, 86% of whom identify as persons of color, and providing opportunities to help them realize their full potential as productive, happy adults.
None of our work would be possible without you. Words cannot fully convey how grateful I am to our partners and donors who have supported Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston with their generosity and allowed us to continue to be there for our youth. Together, let’s celebrate BGCB’s longstanding tradition – which has lasted nearly 130 years – of investing in our youth to provide a bright future for our communities.
