Workforce Readiness
BGCB’s strategic focus on workforce readiness is closing the economic and opportunity gaps that exist in our community. We envision a future where every young person can live, work, and thrive in the community they grew up in. BGCB is committed to engaging all teens in our proven Ready to Work program.
By offering innovative programming, our youth discover their interests and potential career paths. BGCB provides access to advanced career exploration tools and maintain strategic partnerships with industry leaders.
Our job readiness workshops and skill-building programs offer advanced technology training, focusing on both hard skills like coding and digital literacy, and soft skills such as communication and teamwork.
Our rapidly expanding internship program provides youth with hands-on experience, paid internships and work-based learning opportunities in real-world environments. Our members take advantage of resume writing workshops and career coaching to help them find opportunities to grow.

Expanding Workforce Readiness through Internships
“They’re here at our teen center and then they get to have internships at Boston Children’s Hospital. It’s that type of access we offer where it’s like, ‘Wow, I just completed this program and now I’m actually getting prepared for my career.’
Preparing Teens for Success Through Ready to Work
Ready to Work, Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston’s workforce readiness initiative, is making great strides in creating pathways to success for young people in Boston and Chelsea. This past year brought a 143% overall year-over-year increase in participation, as more and more teens are building valuable skills to set themselves up for success in the workplace and life after the Club.
