Helen Chin Schlichte served as Assistant to the Massachusetts Secretary of Administration and Finance and in the legislative and executive branches of state government for five decades. As one of the first Asian women to achieve prominence as a public administrator, Helen has been a mentor and strong supporter of women pursuing careers in government.

Helen has brought her energy, expertise, experience, and commitment to the Chinese and larger communities by serving in leadership positions of non-profit organizations. She is a co-founder, President Emerita and now board member of South Cove Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Director Emerita of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, and the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway Conservancy Boards. Helen serves on the Senior Advisory Board of Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, the external advisory board of the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy at UMass Boston, the steering committee of the Asian Community Fund at the Boston Foundation, and the trustee advisory boards of the Museum of Science and GBH. She earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree at Boston University and then helped her younger siblings attain a college education.
