The Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston Hall of Fame celebrates a tradition of positive influence and impact across the communities of Boston and Chelsea. Inductees are individuals who have gone on to make important contributions in their field, are role models of exemplary service to their community, and continue to have a positive impact on their Club.
Get to Know Anne:
In 1971, Anne Gordon started in a temporary summer role in what was then called the Discovery Workshop, and fully intended to depart to become a full-time art instructor. During her time at what is now the Edgerley Family South Boston Club, she was immediately drawn to the tight-knit community, the camaraderie of staff, and the opportunity to work directly with youth and create intentional, effective programming.
The Discovery Workshop Program has been recognized by Boys & Girls Clubs of America with a 1975 Honor Award, and a 1984 Honor Award of the Decade. Anne also served on a BGCA national committee for the arts.
Anne’s efforts expanded, as she taught swimming, girls’ weightlifting, and more, including developing the Little City Hall program to support members learning about politics that culminated in annual trips to Washington, D.C. Anne’s connection with staff, members, families, and volunteers has endeared her to all that know her.
Anne has witnessed tremendous change over her past five decades with BGCB, and has seen the organization grow, adapt, and evolve over the years – including the global pandemic that started in 2020.
