Established in 1947, the Youth of the Year Award at Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) recognizes Club members who have shown superior leadership, academic achievement, and service to their respective Club community. The annual program builds personal growth and leadership qualities among our young members.
Get to know Armani, Yawkey Club of Roxbury’s 2023 Youth of the Year:
Armani’s journey throughout the Yawkey Club was impactful largely due to a Club Staff who later became his mentor. Through joining the Young Men’s group, Armani learned skills such as being punctual, personable, trustworthy, and brave. He also learned how to help his community through this program which inspired his determination to advocate for others.

Armani learned a lot about himself by joining the swim team at the Yawkey Club. The younger members now view him as a role model, and he even works as a lifeguard. He loves helping younger members work on their technique and creating relationships with them like his mentor did for him.
Armani is extremely resilient, and the Club provided relationships and support he needed at a young age. Through the Club, Armani went from now knowing his purpose to being extremely grounded in his goal to become a Supreme Court Justice.
