Derick Rodriguez was named Director of Sumner Club at the Charles Sumner Elementary School in Roslindale in August 2019. He was first introduced to Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) when he was a 13-year-old camper at Camp Harbor View. After years of participating and growing within the organization, Derick was named an MLK Scholar, and placed to work alongside of Carl Thompson and former Sumner Club Director Nina Vansuch at Hennigan Club. During this time, Derick’s motivation to become a Director at a club was solidified.
Derick has received a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from University of Massachusetts Boston, with a concentration in Leadership and Organizational Change. Prior to BGCB, Derick worked at KIPP Academy Boston Elementary School.
