Approximately 60 participants gathered to form teams and tackle a street cleanup project, dedicating an hour and a half to cleaning and beautifying their local community.
On Friday, April 19th, 2024, the Josh Kraft Mattapan Teen Center hosted the inaugural Myra H. Kraft (MHK) Community Giveback Day. This event brought together all MHK Scholarship recipients since the program’s inception over a decade ago, as well as members of Keystone. Approximately 60 participants gathered to form teams and tackle a street cleanup project, dedicating the day to cleaning and beautifying their local community.
Upon returning from the cleanup, the volunteers were treated to a backyard barbecue, providing an excellent opportunity to reconnect with peers, BGCB alumni, and staff. The day included inspiring alumni shares from Shawn’Tay Burton, Amber Reese, Anthony Rubiera, and Francesca Focellatti, a Project 351 MHK recipient. These stories highlighted the resilience, drive, and the transformative impact of the Club experience on their personal and professional lives.
The event was marked by enthusiastic participation, networking, and community spirit. Volunteers felt a deep sense of fulfillment from giving back to both the community and the Club. The highlight of the day was the heartfelt appreciation expressed by local residents as they witnessed the cleanup efforts. This day was a testament to the strong community bonds fostered by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston and the enduring legacy of Myra H. Kraft’s commitment to service.
