Fun Fact: My hair does not grow.
I have been attending the Boys & Girls Club since I was 12-years-old. Both the staff and members of the Club have helped mold me into an intelligent and proper person, but I still seem to struggle connecting with people who are outside of my culture. As I look toward college, I know I will have to interact with many people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. I know this will be outside my comfort zone. This is why I joined the Explore India program.
By learning about and traveling to India I will have the opportunity to immerse myself into a culture different from my own. I hope this will increase my confidence to interact with diverse people later in my life. I also expect to learn how to live without my parents for two weeks. I have never been away from my parents for an extended period of time. Once again, as I look toward college I will have to learn to adapt to life without my parents.
I am excited about exploring India. Not only will this be a fun and cool time, it will be a learning experience helping me grow up and step into the next stage of my life.
