On December 7, 2019, more than 70 community members and friends of Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston met at Yawkey Club of Roxbury to assemble bags of nutritious food to be shared with Club members and their families. In total, volunteers assembled 300 bags of food, each consisting of produce, grains, and apple crisp kits. Participants came from a variety of BGCB support groups, including the Board of Directors, Board of Trustees, Artemis Circle, and Friends Council. This event was planned in preparation for the holiday shutdown that will be taking place across all of BGCB’s Clubs between December 25 and January 1.
“The goal of this event is to ensure the families we serve will have access to the nutritious meals that are served at Clubs during our winter shutdown,” explained Erin Donovan, Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston’s Major Gifts Officer and the organizer of the event. “We’re proud of our wonderful community of supporters for ensuring that this will happen.”
In 2019, Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston served more than 310,000 healthy meals and snacks to members. Check out photos from the event on our Facebook page and below:
