Welcome to week 19 and post #80 of Club at Home! We’re in week 2 of summer programming, and while some of our members are back at the physical Clubs, we know many families are at home. We want to ensure there are fun and educational activities for you wherever you are! Today, find fun and educational activities for members across all age groups, including GarageBand, yoga, DIY lava lamps, and Rebus puzzles.

Meet Our Nurses

In order to ensure safety and good health for our members, BGCB has hired five nurses who will be stationed at our Clubs during summer programming. Below, meet Phillip, Gerald and Darlene Jordan Club’s nurse!

My name is Philip and I am new graduate from UMass Amherst. A little about myself, during college, I was President of UMass Habitat for Humanity, a clarinetist for the UMass Concert, and interned at Brigham and Women’s Hospital on a COVID ICU in Boston. Now, my first nursing job, I am working at the Jordan Boys & Girls Club of Chelsea as a nurse!

Something I’ve seen at the club that really highlights safety protocols and makes BGCB safe are the good health hygiene practices that occur. Coming into the club, transitioning between programs/activities, before/after eating, after using bathroom, and before leaving the club; staff encourage the members to wash their hands with soap and water or an alcohol based sanitizer.

My favorite part thus far, of the summer program, is watching the staff and kids work together to come up with new ideas to have fun while socially distancing, developing some critical thinking skills!

Stay tuned for the next nurse spotlight on Tuesday.
