Welcome to week six of Club at Home! Every day, we share content that brings Club programs, traditions, and staff into the homes of members. Our goal is to provide the same fun and educational activities to our Club members and families, even while Clubs are physically closed.

Today, we check in with staff from our Clubs who share different activities for members across all age groups, including fizzy art, knife skills, Storytime Monday, singing 101, Coronavirus Cardio, trivia, drum patterns, and college essay tips!

We are also excited to introduce the BGCB Phone Support Line! If you or a family member are in need of support, or someone to listen to you, please contact BGCB’s Support Line at 617-994-4720 from 12:00pm to 8:00pm daily to connect with a social worker. Outside of these hours, a social worker will call you back within 24 hours. You can also text CLUB to 741741 for Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s 24/7 free and confidential text support system.

Riddle of the Day

What childhood game was created during the Polio epidemic of 1949?

Hint: It was created by Eleanor Abbott, a teacher who was hospitalized with the disease and wanted to create a way for immobilized children to feel a sense of freedom. Milton Bradley quickly bought the rights to the game and has been selling it ever since.

The answer to Friday’s riddle: All months

Tune in tomorrow to see the answer and get a new riddle!

Try fizzy art with Art Program Manager Yury! You need: a metal or foil tray, baking soda, white vinegar, an ice cube tray or containers, straws, and food coloring.

1. Fill your tray with baking soda.
2. Fill each ice cube tray with vinegar and add liquid food coloring.
3. Place one end of your straw into the colored liquid and use your thumb to cover the other straw hole.
4. Bring your straw, filled with colored liquid, over to your baking soda tray and drop it wherever you’d like.
5. Watch as the droplets hit the baking soda and fizz up. You can cover the whole tray in different colors and designs!
