Hi BGCB teens and alumni! I’m back with a special Saturday edition of Club at Home, sharing some scholarship and professional opportunities, as well as tips to prioritize mindfulness during this time.

Seniors! I know you already know about the BGCB scholarships being offered (applications are due June 5!), but there is another awesome opportunity that I want you to know about. The ALKU Scholarship is a $30,000 college scholarship for rising high school seniors. This scholarship provides youth the opportunity to apply for financial support to achieve their full potential as you pursue your college career.

In order to qualify, you must be:

  • Enrolled in a high school within Massachusetts
  • A rising senior
  • Applying to a four-year, accredited institution to acquire a bachelor’s degree in any field
  • Engaged in an empowering youth-adult relationship (defined as any adult other than the applicant’s parent or legal guardian who provides friendship, guidance, and support) for at least one year
  • Able to demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and a commitment to your community

All application materials must be submitted online by Friday, July 24 at 5 p.m. EST.

Alumni! William James College in Newton recently launched a powerful new program for recent college graduates. The Behavioral Health Service Corps (BHSC), a first-of-its-kind service-learning program, is designed to help grow and diversify the workforce. The BHSC is a year-long service and learning opportunity that provides paid and benefited entry-level career experience, along with the opportunity to earn credits towards a master’s degree.

There will be a special Zoom presentation on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. which will share more about this great opportunity. Feel free to join the meeting or share the link with any friends you think may be interested.

Finally, we know these two months at home haven’t been easy. It’s been helpful for me to re-center myself by watching or listening to content focused on relaxation, mindfulness, and resilience. Check out this webcast from Harvard University about resilience in uncertain times.

We hope you’re all staying safe and healthy!

In addition, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office has released a comprehensive COVID-19 Resource Guide that provides a complete picture of all resources available to assist with getting through this very challenging time.
