Established in 1947, the Youth of the Year Award at Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) recognizes Club members who have shown superior leadership, academic achievement, and service to their respective Club community. The annual program builds personal growth and leadership qualities among our young members.
Get to know Owen, Edgerley Family South Boston Club’s 2022 Youth of the Year:
Owen became a second-generation Club member at six years old and credits his Club experience in playing a role in the person he is today. Since day one, Owen participated in a wide range of Club programs including Keystone, Ready to Work, lifeguarding at the pool, and BGCB’s Explore India Travel Program, where he immersed himself in the culture, from food to stories that local shop owners shared.

Give TodayWhile at the Club, one of Owen’s favorite activities was art, and at eight years old, his work was displayed at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Owen is described as an integral part of the Club, a leader amongst his peers, and someone younger members are sure to emulate. Owen values his relationships and acknowledges what everyone brings to the table. Following graduation from Boston Latin Academy, Owen will study at University of Greenwich, London.
