Get to Know The Speakers:

Dr. Charles Anderson, MPH, MBA, BGCB Trustee, is the President and CEO of The Dimock Center. Nationally recognized as a model for the delivery of comprehensive health and human services in an urban community, Dimock provides high-quality care to Boston’s underserved neighborhoods, serving more than 19,000 people annually.

Charles joined The Dimock Center from Exaltare Capital Partners where he served as Co-Founder and Health and Wellness Operating Affiliate. Prior to founding Exaltare Capital Partners, Charles was Vice President of Corporate and Business Development for the $1.5B Caritas Christi Healthcare System, and a manager in the healthcare practice at Deloitte. Charles has served in a wide variety of roles over the past 25 years in the Boston-area health care community, including co-chairing the committee on Building Strong Families and Communities as part of the State of Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care’s Birth to School-Age Task Force.

Charles received his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, an MPH from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, an MD from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and an MBA from Boston University Questrom School of Business. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston.

Dr. Mallika Marshall is an Emmy-award winning journalist and physician who serves as the regular Health Reporter at WBZ-TV in Boston. A practicing physician who is Board Certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics, Mallika serves on staff at Harvard Medical School and practices at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH)’s Chelsea Urgent Care Clinic and MGH Revere Health Center.

Mallika is currently a Contributing Editor for Harvard Health Publications (HHP), the publishing division of Harvard Medical School. She has nearly 20 years of media experience, including serving as “HealthWatch” Anchor at WBZ-TV News beginning in 2000. Since working at WBZ-TV, Mallika was the Medical Contributor on Katie Couric’s daytime talk show “Katie.” She served as the medical contributor for New England Cable News (NECN) and as the Medical Director for Everyday Health, digital media’s popular source of medical news.

A cum laude graduate of Harvard College, Mallika received her medical degree with honors at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. She completed her medical residency at Harvard in internal medicine and pediatrics. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the National Association of Black Journalists. She also has served on the Board of Trustees for the Urgent Care Foundation and the Board of Directors for Dress for Success Boston.

Dr. Sandhya Rao is Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, the largest private health plan in Massachusetts and one of the largest independent, not-for-profit Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in the country.

Sandhya is responsible for the strategic direction and ongoing operation of the company’s health and medical management and pharmacy division, focused on improving the quality, outcomes, and affordability of health care provided to members.

Previously, she served as Vice President of Clinical Strategy at Haven, the health care organization formed by Amazon, JP Morgan Chase, and Berkshire Hathaway. Before joining Haven, Sandhya was Senior Medical Director for Population Health Management at Partners Healthcare. She also served as Associate Medical Director of the Mass General Physicians Organization, and as a business analyst at McKinsey and Co. Her clinical experience includes practice as a primary care provider at Massachusetts General Hospital and at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Sandhya earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in public health from Brown University and her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Michele Courton Brown, BGCB Director, is Vice President of Business Development at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. Michele is responsible for identifying and evaluating new business opportunities including acquisitions, strategic alliances, and joint ventures that drive competitive advantage, support strategic objectives and drive profitable growth. She also sources strategic investments for Zaffre Venture Fund. Previously, Michele was CEO of Quality Interactions, Inc. a leading provider of cultural competency training in the healthcare industry and she held executive roles at Bank of America and The Travelers. Michele currently serves on the Board of Directors for Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston.
