Jasmine Griffin is the Teen Director at BGCB’s Berkshire Partners Blue Hill Club in Dorchester.
Please tell us a little about your background and what brought you to BGCB.
As a Dorchester native, one of my lifelong goals is to serve my community. Through my experiences and studies at UMASS Boston, it became my civic duty and responsibility to contribute to social, economic, and political growth for my community. With an emphasis on youth empowerment, I was interested in bringing resources, programming, and overall experience to the youth of BGCB to help prepare the next generation of leaders. The Berkshire Partners Blue Hill Club stands as a childhood staple to me, as it directly in the neighborhood in which my family and I are from.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of the job is engaging teens in team builder activities. Starting off with a simple activity that transitions into a fruitful, reflective debrief amongst the teens, encouraging thought around conversation around self-awareness, community, trust, current events, dreams, etc.
What do you like about being employed by BGCB?
I like the opportunity BGCB provides to creatively work with youth and provide them with resources from BGCB and my own personal networks.
What are you looking forward to this year, and what are some of your favorite parts of your job?
I am looking forward to our team implementing new programming and improving the aesthetic of our Teen Center
What are the main activities and programming?
The main activities and programming in the Berkshire Partners Blue Hill Teen Center consist of quarterly birthday parties, Karaoke/Party Fridays, community meetings, Film Study, Courses to Careers, Teen Council, and Keystone.
