Fun Fact: I like to watch anime.

I think it’s important for teens at the Yawkey Club of Roxbury to have a chance to go on this trip because many would not have the opportunity otherwise. Living in a community where there is not much hope for a teenager to see the world beyond the borders of Massachusetts or the United States, this opportunity is huge. I look forward to traveling the streets of India thinking about what life for a teen in this country would be like. I hope to meet teens in India and talk to them about their lives.

I am also excited to travel in the country that produced Mahatma Gandhi. Because Gandhi influenced Martin Luther King, Jr. to use nonviolence and because those efforts led to many civil rights achievements in the US, it will be an honor to learn more about how India gained their independence using civil disobedience. I hope to return to the United States will a new and more well-informed outlook on the world.
