“We have built our Pathways: The Bridge To Healthcare Careers and opened up avenues into the healthcare industry for young people in the cities of Boston and Chelsea. We look forward to expanding this model into every sector of business, life sciences, trades, and more.”
—Andrea Swain, Chief Impact Officer, Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston
Pathways Day 2024 at Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston was a remarkable event dedicated to celebrating the incredible experiences of fellows who participated in wide range summer programs geared toward teens looking to enter the healthcare sector. Additionally, it recognized the impact of the generous supporters who are making these opportunities possible: Dr. Nancy Slater and Mr. Alan Millner. As part of BGCB’s Pathways: The Bridge to Healthcare Careers program, the day began with an engaging networking session, allowing attendees to connect, share stories, and build relationships that will last well beyond the event.
“We have built our Pathways: The Bridge to Healthcare Careers and opened up avenues into the healthcare industry for young people in the cities of Boston and Chelsea,” explained Andrea Swain, BGCB’s Chief Impact Officer. “We look forward to expanding this model into every sector of business, life sciences, trades, and many more.”
Inspiring Panel Discussion
The highlight of the evening was a panel discussion featuring four exceptional fellows: Izzy, Tim, Ashlyn, and Jailah. Each of these young leaders shared their unique journeys and how their participation in the pre-college program has brought them closer to their goals in the healthcare field. Their stories were a testament to the resilience, determination, and passion that define the members of our Boys & Girls Clubs community.
Gratitude to Our Supporters
The Pathways program has been brought to life through the generosity of Dr. Nancy Slater and Mr. Alan Millner. Their unwavering support, motivated by their desire to remove barriers faced by people of color in the healthcare field and create an equal playing field, has opened doors for our members, allowing them to pursue their dreams and build a solid foundation for their future careers in healthcare. We are incredibly grateful for their generosity and belief in the potential of our young leaders.
Looking Forward to Future Successes
Pathways Day was not just a celebration of achievements but a powerful reminder of the impact that dedicated support and guidance can have on the lives of young people. As we look forward to future Pathways Days, we remain committed to empowering our members to pursue their passions and achieve their full potential in the healthcare field.
At Pathways Day, we also highlighted the ongoing efforts of Ready To Work. This initiative continues to aim at putting members of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston in positions to succeed by providing them with critical skills, resources, and opportunities to advance in the healthcare field. The program plays a vital role in preparing our members for future success and is integral to our mission of fostering careers in healthcare.
