Established in 1947, the Youth of the Year Award at Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston recognizes Club members who have shown superior leadership, academic achievement, and service to their respective club community. The annual program fosters personal growth and leadership qualities among our young members.
Get to know Gina, Charlestown Club Youth of the Year:
Gina joined the Club as an 8-year-old and has been a model member ever since. She recalls staff members who were always there to help her make new friends and try new things. The Club helped her grow into a confident teen who is comfortable speaking about issues that are important to her and sharing her ideas with others. She calls the Club a place where she could be the best version of herself and credits staff for recognizing these qualities in her.
Those who know Gina are quick to comment on her integrity, kindness, and drive to succeed. She excelled in high school, where she participated in the rigorous International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. At the Club, she could be found volunteering her time at the front desk, library, and games room. After balancing a heavy workload at school and a consistent commitment to the Club, she earned a spot in the Explore Japan Program and represented her Club through that experience.
