Welcome to post #51 of Club at Home! Every day, we share content that brings Club programs, traditions, and staff into the homes of members. Our goal is to provide the same fun and educational activities to our Club members and families, even while Clubs are physically closed.

Today, we check in with staff from our Clubs who share different activities for members across all age groups, including youth activism, MFA virtual learning, banana bread, Garage Band, paper football, and more.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston stands in solidarity with the people and communities in our state, country, and beyond who continue to bear the physical, emotional, and economic effects of racism. Our community is justifiably saddened, frustrated, angered, and tired.

Here are some resources to help process these painful events and discuss anti-racism with your children.

Amazon.com: Marley Dias Gets It Done: And So Can You ...

If you are seeking ways to channel energy into productive activism, get inspired by Marley Dias. At thirteen years old, Marley was frustrated by the lack of diversity in books, so she started #1000BlackGirlBooks, a drive that collects books highlighting Black female characters. Her original goal was to collect 1,000 books, but she quickly surpassed that, reaching well over 11,000. Now she runs a grassroots campaign and continues to collect books to donate to children all over the world.

She even has written her own book— “Marley Dias Gets It Done and So Can You!” Check out the book description In this accessible “keep-it-real” guide, Marley explores activism, social justice, volunteerism, equity and inclusion, and using social media for good. Drawing from her experience, Marley shows kids how they can galvanize their strengths to make positive changes in their communities, while getting support from parents, teachers, and friends to turn dreams into reality.
